Hi all, just a few words to introduce myself. I’m older than a lot on here but probably younger than some. That’s the age out of the way  I’m retired so have a bit of time on my hands to enjoy my first, sorry dear, second love. Shooting. I used to do a lot of lamping and hunting of foxes but haven’t shot a fox now in maybe seven or eight years and quite frankly have no urge to do so again. Must be getting soft in my old age. I really enjoyed the hunting of cover with half a dozen mates and half a dozen dogs of all various breeds. Now I shoot rabbits mostly. Also I do a few farms and factories for vermin, rats, feral pigeons and crows, especially the grey backs. I had a 22 250 but sold it. Now I shoot a 22 rf and a .22 high power air rifle. I used to shoot a lot of clays and shot on the Irish international team a number of times. But of late ,especially because of the cost I have cut back on my clay shooting.
I bought myself a 008 about two months ago and think it’s great. I’m now buying at a spotter. I’m limited in what I can do now due to health issues and stay in the pickup as much as possible but I still get out which is the main thing.
I think I’ve told yous enough for now and hope to be browsing this excellent forum for some time. A lot on here seem to have a wealth of knowledge and they are very generous in sharing it, thanks for that. When we stop learning we’re dead. Slainte for the new year.

Hi Pat, welcome to the forum, its good to see new members posting an intro.

I too have had to confine my shooting to a vehicle because of health issues if I want to still get out occasionally and over a period of time have refined my technique and tools. I used a NV roof spotter with a cable extension into the car for its screen for a time. I then dropped lucky with a thermal core being offered for sale on here and with a lot of help from a forum member put together a thermal roof spotter that doesn't even need a cable into the 7" screen inside the car, so the NV roof spotter is now redundant.

I've never been a dog lover before but have also now ceased foxing because I got to really like the wife's Papillon which looks very fox cub like and can't bring myself to shoot them where I'm not required to on my diminishing permissions which are now all rabbit - and very thin on the ground too.

Fluff up a cushion and get comfy after slapping someones ass with instructions for coffee on the hour every hour.
