Hiya, welcome to the forum, it's good to see someone still uses the old stuff these days. 
Of course time moved on and a few big players invested heavily in technology at a time I was - to be honest - getting a bit bored with the production and needed to order more stock in which, turns out, would not have sold. Soon after that HD came along too when the E700 cameras were no longer made.
More modern stuff has swings and roundabouts to it, certainly lighter, more toys built in and generally better imaging close up but need more IR light to reach as far as the E700 camera for starters is I think a fair appraisal.
