Badgers?

Post by Norfolkandgood » 05 Mar 2013, 00:51

Popped out to one of the permissions tonight with the nv & went to what is usually quite a hotspot for the rabbits but there was absolutely no sign of them.
After quite a wait the only thing to appear was a badger scratching around. Just spent a minute or so staring at each other before he snuffled back into the hedgerow.
A nice surprise as i'd only ever seen them on tv or by the side of the road (usually not quite the shape they were meant to be)
Questions now are,
If badgers have moved into an area will that make the bunnies move on or just keep their heads down when they're about? (bit more daytime shooting of the bunnies maybe?)

Are they likely to cause more damage to the field/crops than the bunnies with their handywork?

On the other side of the boundary is a horse paddock, would them being around be of any major concern to them? Would it be worthwhile just letting the owners know? (plus I don't currently have permission on there & it could put me in their good books :D )

You should live around here as we are overun with the things. Rabbits and Badgers will live side by side no problem(foxes will use Badger sets for earths). They can do massive damage but nothing can be done so im afraid you are stuck with them as we are.

Heard the latest on Team Badger or TB for short - what an unfortunate ill thought out name  This is Bryan May's (the QUEEN guitarists) animal rights movement.
This dude is against the upcoming Badger cull and believes Badgers should be innocultaed against TB, the fact that innoculations in Badgers does not work has not stopped him campaigning for it.
The cost to innoculate them works out at £5,000 PER ANIMAL, the cull cost is £25 !
The latest on this fox hugging badger kissing bunny pumper is that his country retreat/estate sells ...............deer stalking !
What a hypocrite
It's not until they own a bit of land that reality kicks in and they realise WHY things are done the way they are but then are too two faced to publicise it.
Hold on, there's a similar smell coming from the RSPB and RSPCA too, as we know all too well !
A big round of applause for them all
Maybe one day the truth will overcome image and money !!!

Soap box for sale, any takers ?
...is this a pistol in my hand, or am I just pleased to see you ?

Watched a stripey last night wander through a load of Bunny's, a few sat up and had a look then carried on eating. I wish stripeys did get rid of Bunny's then they would save me a lot of work!

I watch them all the time I've even had to make a noise before when one was two foot from me  been watching a lot of hares lately eight pairs I counted the other night  I don't shoot them as my landowner likes them and they don't seem to do that much damage plus they released them on one of my shoots,as for the badger cull no problems round here with TB and surely deer spread it as well when you loose cattle you get paid for it I know it's peoples lively hood so I cannot really condone cattle farmers, defra are still letting TB cattle enter the food chain as long as there are not too many organs affected, badgers soon to end up like the red squirrel?I ain't no tree huger or nowt but even the French treat the badgers for it,a Still I'll get off my soap box now
Two and half million made and three quarters of these still on the road, can you say the same about your 4x4
