My mate and myself decided to have a drive around the shoot this evening.

Didn't take the nv as it was just a reccy, so used the roof mounted 170 with amber filter and took my .223, just in case.

As we hadn't had any rain for a while, we were hopeful that the set aside would be doable. Did about 35 miles around the shoot. Ground was deceiving, as it hadn't been touched (last time we drove on it was early November). Up to the axles twice and lots of slipping and sliding. Disco coped admirably though, but there were a couple of hairy moments.

Did see one fox at around 400 yards, but he took off like Hussain Bolt.

Looking like it'll be some time before the truck is able to be used on our ground. What about you?

Same here George, Leicestershire is a very heavy clay area.

Get that quad and a good pair of gloves George, you'll drive it all year around...

or get a quad with heated hand grips like ours

I tried those hand mitts but after inserting my poor cold hands into two pools of water they had to go, heated grips are the future!!!

up at my part in scotland, Hilux surf got all round the land yesterday for bullet testing time. Granted this is only grass parks, other farm i went to the farmer warned me not to go in as its soft and the truck wouldnt get in, i got down to the bottom of the track and tried to turn and went in the field to get turned and got stuck, had a whole lot of messing about to get out, needless to say with that noise foxing was out of the question lol

just starting to dry out on our estate, mind you we havn't had any trouble getting around as we chopped in the old kawasaki mule for a new diesel polaris ranger just before xmas

Mine is fine i've been able to drive around as much of my permission as normal. But saying that most of my permission is concrete and/or tarmac, the field and wood has always been un-drivable.

Crewe Is the same, Lots of standing water( new ponds for the ducks) and very muddy !
No driving for a while on our shoot.
