Hmm, thermal's looking more and more likely !
Went shooting last night, drove for an hour to get there. Had to go anyway to drop off the farmers bottle and chocs but took all the gear intending to stay a few hours. Got set up and the flamin' mist started to roll in. Spotted a fox in the hop fields only 150 yards or so so picks the rifle up, turned on the Ward D and ir and ......... white out.
No matter what I did it was just the same, total white out. Thermal could see him clear as day (terrain was poor) but nv no use at all.

Same happened to me last night....... mist came down at last light and the IR was just bouncing off it so it was no go with the Xtreme, so I stuck the WT1 75/3 on top of the .17Rem and shot a dog followed by a vixen at about 40 metres within 10 minutes of each other.
Having shot the dog I thought I'd go and move it the right side of the wind and nearer my foxpro caller, hopped off the back of the GrandVit got about 10 yards and just put up the 38S to check where it was and waddya know......... the vixen popped out from behind the tree and stood there staring in my direction........ aaah, bollox.
I was still in the 'shadow' of the motor so I backtracked and managed to get back up on the back of the GVit, turned the 'scope back on and here's the vixen still sniffing around her mate. Result.
Amazing what you can get away with sometimes.
Go for it Rod........ I tidied up another 2 the night before with the thermal scope too........ one knew I was there somewhere and sat down at around 130m to try and work it out. Mistake.
That's 7 this week from that same hedge on 3 nights, parking in a slightly different spot each time but still only a total of 100m apart.
Cheers

A correct grip on the butt & cheekweld is imperative for accurate shooting.

I've always had a soft spot for classic items, which is why I drive a 21 year old motor, they're better made and simple (like me perhaps
So, thermal needs thought as to whether it would actually be of benefit for the majority of my shooting. ............ or she'll kill me

just tell her its a new tool you need, ( due to new gov regs), for checking for cracks in metal work/welding etc.........she'll never know

This is one of the things that stops me buying one, we just don't have that many foxes on the big shoot. Most I've ever seen is three, one of which keep eluding me
It needs more thought

Yeah, noticed that Adam but it's for the 35mm (?) I think that knowing there's a 75 it would annoy me to think there was better in that price bracket (or close). And I'm still undecided anyway

He said he could get bigger lenses for it.....cheaper entry AND you end up with a more versatile scope....its win win, honestly rod you'd be daft not to
