Bit of blurb about me:
I have built a spotter / bolt on that works reasonably well as such.
It uses a board 700, a 16mm lens, a bit of plastic plumbing, a scope adaptor and a leccy box feeding to a 5" screen.

I fancied trying to go scope-less.
I bought a 10-30mm Fixed Iris IR Zoom Board Lens for CCTV Security Camera which will focus (have tried out to about 50m), but at the 10mm end, and nowhere else - which isn't much use to me.
I read a bit more and thought that I'd scrimped and bought a 50mm C Mount Lens with Manual Iris for 2/3" Format and bout a C - 12mm adaptor.
I can get this to focus, but only at about 1m.
I'm now frustrated as ..... (enter your own dire description).

I understand there will be issues with the board camera, but I'm looking to pick up some more info before coughing up/wasting more of my precious pennies, so will be asking loads of questions.

Hi, using a board camera is going to be trickier for a scopeless than a bullet cam but there are ways round it if you can get the lens close enough to the camera sensor. Sounds like you are not close enough yet - and have you removed the camera board lens when using the 50mm C mount lens?

Hi, I followed your posts on the other board (where I'm Alpha Mule).
Am ploughing through the details on this site now.
I reckon you're right in that I'm not getting the lens close enough.
I'll get some pics and stick them a thread.
However: I took the 16mm out, fitted at 12 - CS adaptor and screwed the new lens into that.

I look forward to much (more) head scratching.

I do bullet cameras that are the eqivilant to the ej230 but smaller and 5v so no need for a regulator if using a vf-2c viewfinder, i have made a few scopeless in the past so if you need some ideas have a look at my DIY builds here = www.customriflescopes.uk
