Photon extreme camera lens

Post by big kev » 18 Apr 2016, 20:57

Can any of you lens buffs out there tell me if a 50-55mm lens with a 2x tele converter is as good as a 100mm lens, is there any upsides or downsides to it.

First, a 100mm lens in good condition is exactly that, it will focus as it was designed to.

Tele converters are like souping up a cheap car, there will be a trade off in performance, wobble, POI shift and extra weight. 50 or 55mm lenses work best as they are meant to be. On a camera it doesn't matter if the centre of the photo moves a little, you won't know unless you measure the scene with a laser, on taking a shot it does matter.
