Iveco 2198cc "Puma engine"

Post by hairyyoda » 04 Apr 2016, 19:49

Any knowledgeable people on the forum who might know of any problems or issues in fitting a suitable replacement Iveco 2198cc HDI "Puma" engine in to a 2008 Citroen Relay, also could the slightly larger 2287cc Iveco engine be a straight forward transplant. Just thinking if there are going to be any engine management coding issues or gearbox matching problems when looking at any viable transplant engines out of the Fiat or Citroen or Peugeot or Ford range of vehicles. Any input would be  Thank you all Phil.

If you go for a similar size engine, you would only have to code the injectors in, it would still start up and run,but you might get knock threshold limit exceeded on 1 or more cylinders, you could of course use your old injectors and refit them in their original positions
Other than that I can't fore see any electronics problems it's all done via the Ecu which will have the injector codes stored.
