Any computer/email geniuses/experts please.

Post by hairyyoda » 07 Feb 2016, 14:36

 Any computer/email geniuses/experts please, some detective work and help is needed and any input and help would be great

Found a vehicle to buy, seller is working in Italy for 6 months, seller is using Garcha Transport in Sutton Coalfield as the selling agent in what is termed a "escrow selling arrangement" "you sent the money Garcha Transport deliver the car to your chosen address anywhere in UK including Ireland ?????"
Garcha Transport's reply emails are being sent via the email provider "comcast.net" I have a sort of worrying feeling in my water that there is a scam being put together by whoever is behind the proposed sale of the vehicle.
(1) Is it likely that comcast.net would be the email service provider for a UK transport company
(2) How do I check the original source of photographs that are attached to emails
(3)Has anyone any knowledge or dealings with Garcha Transport (also Steve's Transport Limited is run from the same residential address in Bedford Road in Sutton Coalfield)
(4) Although selling price of the vehicle is way below the vehicles real value and should "ring alarm bells", I would still like to find out as much as I can about the way that the sale of this vehicle is being put together and being handled.
All ideas and any help would be plus points and a bonus.
Thank you all Phil

(A), it's a scam, and (B) if you do insist on following it up Phil then arrange for me to go and view or collect  I'll bet though when you tell them you have someone local (relatively) they'll say the car is in Scotland or Cornwall .

Yes Rod  from the first contact it all seemed like a "smoke and mirrors act" , the first text message came in from a 9 digit phone number starting with +39 followed by 59958?? Even the Ebay advert of the BT number that was alleged to be somewhere near Chepstow/Caldicot was not recognised as the automated operators voice would jump in and state "number not recognised" each time I tried to make contact  . Also the Ebay location details seemed "a bit iffy" because I know the alleged location of Neath/Port Talbot quite well and the setting where the vehicle was photographed was "I am sorry to say" a lot more idyllic and picturesque  than the Neath/Port Talbot that I have seen and know etc. (really sorry to mark the scenic qualities of Neat/Port Talbot down but it can't be helped) Dam shame as I would have robbed my piggy bank to buy the vehicle but "it was to good a price to be true" being priced about £4,500 under it's true value with less than 57,000 miles on it. I would hope that I am wrong about it being a scam but not going to send a bank transfer  "on the hope of a car transporter turning up" Still going to do a Sherlock Holmes and find out what I can     Thanks Rodders aka "Dave"
  Phil

Not sure but I think +39 is code for Italy.

Hi Phil,

I expect they are just pretending to be the transport company you mentioned.

You send your dough. They keep the dough and the company they are pretending to be takes the flack.

Download the images and then do a google image search. ;)

Buying used cars is a right PITA nowadays. You can even be very diligent with HPI checks, etc. and still have some sweaty turd with a towtruck turn up late one evening to collect on a logbook loan that no search will reveal prior to purchase that I know of.

Steer well clear.

Cheers

Clive
