Hi all!!
Quick intro
I am 48 been shooting airguns for a few years now have a diy night vision system that I use on my permissions looking for ideas to improve and offer advice from what I have so far done
My guns are mostly based on the Chinese 78 /79 range all modified to run on hpa and with choked BSA. Barrels and lots of mods

Cheers for now simon

Welcome to the forum, Simon.

Some great variations on the home-build nv them here. It amazes me how inventive you chaps are.

Hi Spike, get the kettle on and fluff up the cushions 'cos there's plenty to go at on here mate.

What kit are you currently using that isn't up to what you'd hoped it would be?

Hi some bloke
Thanks for the post
I have a cheapish. Cam not sure which model but works quite well and a nice new one watec 902 which I have not fitted yet as awaiting a lens to arrive from china
I am currently using a 1w ir drop in on my torch - this is running at 5 volt from the main 12 volt supply
Looking at improved mounts better image on the display (or better screens)
I have a 300 mw laser as well but prefer the ir as a cleaner picture
Just looking to make a really nice system that I can use on my permission
I have used my system and found dead it was a little to easy to knock and the camera would move and the focus would not be perfect
So the system I have is ok to good but I am always looking for improvements
I use a lipo. Battery which s ems good but again looking at options here

Cheers for now
Simon

Sounds like your on the case mate - good luck.

I'm not sure you are gaining anything by feeding 5v into the torch rather than just the 18650 in the body as the driver probably regulates it down to suit the LED. Electricery ain't my forte so someone will hopefully enlarge on that.

The reason for running at 5 volt is I can run the system off a single battery with a 7805 registered to rn the battery
I know I would end up in the situation where one was flat and the other fine this way I have power to run the system or I don't

Looking at easy battery solutions as well as the lipo do need carefully looking after... Let go below 3.3 per cell in the pack and they won't recharge...

Cheers

Hmm - ok mate. I don't know what a 7805 is, sounds complicated.

IMO the rig would last longer if you power the IR torch with it's own battery, is the torch still intact? It could then perhaps be used with a red LED for regular lamping sessions too.

Hi
the 7805 is really simple IC to use it is a single chip voltage regulator - you put in up to (I think) 35 volts and it regulates down to (in this case) 5
there is also a 7812 etc
best to use a couple of capacitors to get rid of noise but a very handy and cheap IC
they can run up to an amp - there are higher spec ones around
use a good heat sink and they work forever

Cheers

Ah ok. Still seems like a waste of a purpose made integral and reliably connected battery tube on the torch to make a rig that will deplete the camera/monitor power supply quicker to me, that's just my opinion however so don't mind me - it's your rig mate. I wouldn't want my IR on all the time I'm manouvering the rifle around but I guess there is a certain appeal about it all switching on or off at the same time. I use a remote pressure switch on my IR torch.

Anyway - it's about time you got a picture up. :)
