CREE INFRARED BULB

Post by lurcherlight » 26 Nov 2015, 21:07

Can anyone give me some advice , I am a NV virgin and putting my kit together on a budget. I already have a Tracer white light torch, but i cant find a replacement infrared CREE bulb, it wants to be 21mm across? I would like to get it in the uk or Europe, not Hong kong or china, as by the time it arrives all our local bunnies would have hibernated for the winter.

Don't bother trying to find an infra red bulb for your Cree torch, just buy a BlackSun B20 infra red illuminator from the Night vision Store (advert and link at the top of the page)
BTW we don't use "bulbs" any more - all our illuminators use LEDs

Do you have a P60 based torch like the 501b?

If so Some Bloke on here or Clive Ward should be able to supply a drop in replacement.

Not familiar with Tracer, is it the American brand that specialises with UV lights for leak detection ? They make only UV torches, they have a model for detection/illumination at close range ~ 7 meters, which has a white LED on one end, and a UV on the other, maybe that's what you got.

If it has a swappable white LED drop-in module that has 21 mm reflector size, then it is probably a custom size module that can be found only in very few brands if any, if you are sure about it i can find you one in the US market, no problem.

If what you need is a P60 module with a 26.4 mm reflector size (about 20 mm at the base), here is a UK link:

You need to be sure that the battery/batteries voltage matches the working voltage range of any new IR setup.

If you are planing to change only the pill chip, you can get Osram platinum 850 nm IR and do the connection soldering.

I suggest you don't bother, the 21 mm or 26 mm reflector is too small for hunting, it will hardly give any needed throw, you better get a bigger IR torch as Phoenix said.
