The plug on mine is ka put. Anyone know if you can smash the plastic outer case with a sledge and then carefully replace the bullet type plug connector thing with a front end loader? Or is it a new battery job..?

Definitely think it's do-able, but close your eyes when attempting it

There are 6 pozi-drive screws hidden behind the rubber pads holding the case together, 3 on each side. You can poke a screwdriver through the rubber to access them, The rubber will have to be cut along the joint on either side to open the case.
