Some wassock did a "U" turn in front of me today. He pulled out from the side of the road, stopped, then drove forward again. I swerved as much as I could without hitting the double decker coming the other way. Hit him right on his o/s front wheel, probably the toughest part of his car !!
Smashed the front n's of mine in, drivable but no lights and torn bodywork. I know they'll write it off due to age but it's the model I picked, I searched for ages to get one.
Flaming annoyed now, it was a lovely motor, a pleasure to drive. And I've got a blinding headache to go with it

True, still probably lose this motor though and I would have been quite happy to keep it until I pop off.
Still, as you say, it could have been a lot worse.

I had the same thing, park it somewhere awkward..let a couple tyres down and let the battery run flat, drain the rad water and reservoir.
Insurance came to see mine and let me have it for a £1.
cost me 200 to put discovery back on the road. paid out £1800.
Jobs a good one.

I'll see what they say about buying it back, getting to the age now though where repairing it is a pain.

Hope you're alright Rod.
When you get the claim sorted make sure you renew with an alternative insurance company. Your existing one will load your premium even though it's not your fault and no claim is made on your policy.
If you like the car, definitely explore buying it back and getting it repaired at sensible cost.
Cheers
Clive

I'm ok, headache and stiff neck but that's about it, should be gone in the morning . I'll see what they say about buying it back as I liked that motor. Finding another to replace it will be tough anyway.

Bugger, having some idiot ram your wheels is almost as bad as it being nicked
I remember doing a winters worth of custom work on a bike only to have some cretin rear end me at a set of traffic lights a few years ago. It had only done about 70 miles since coming out of the garage

Always the ones you like as well. Only this morning had a puncture done (£7), then put £50 of fuel in, checked all the under bonnet levels etc. 2 months ago had the windscreen changed and persuaded the fitter to put a heated one in (£20, cough cough) and actually thought about cleaning it ready for shooting tomorrow. I didn't get round to the cleaning bit, good job otherwise I would have been really gutted, and it's not due for mot anyway
But it drove beautifully, like driving your favourite armchair. Only had it 3 years which is virtually temporary for me
I'll check it out tomorrow and see if repairable easily enough, I know I have a wing, inner wings are cheap enough and front panel / grille should be reasonable if not got one.
head still aches though

unusual for me, normally just shake things like this off.
