Hello all, new to this forum and nightvision. I plan to get a photon XT in due course for rabbits on 22LR rim fire as seen one in use and good value.
Could do with advice on a NV spotter for the rabbits but also for my deer management responsibilities. I don't have the budget for thermal or the time for DIY. For my deer census work I would like to see the deer to id species, gender and age. A lot of fallow on the ground here in Hampshire, which move at or after last light. Have best in class optics to max legal shooting time but staying out and observing with nv would be very useful. Range upto 200-250 metres ideally, thanks in advance.

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. 
If you use a spotter with the better cameras and lenses, and one made with no shortcuts because that is easier and cheaper, then you can expect to get something like this performance in decent ambient light or good moonlight. Note that a lot of it was filmed without using an illuminator so you are much less likey to be spotted yourself.
Bear in mind the raw image you will see on the spotter monitor is many times better than the compressed image you see here:

Pulsar X870 is the best digital spotter on the market at the moment, uses an OLED display when the rest use LCD.
Carl Moore of Night Vision Gear UK will have a new spotter based on the Drone Pro sometime this year, which will probably knock the Pulsar off the top.
If you don't have to be totally covert, then a screen based spotter rather than near eye display, coupled with an E700 camera will give better resolution than the lesser commercial units.
For that Some Bloke is the guy to talk to.
