Hi, I'm Billy. I join about a week ago and before introducing myself I have been looking at the forum to decide if its the place I want to be. So far its ticked all the boxes - informed, interesting and to the point.
I've been a shotgunner for a while and recently got my FAC and a Tikka T3 .223 with moderator and Nikko Stirling scope (planning to get a .22 for rabbits). So far I've been lambing with mates, and I'm looking for night vision - ATN X-sight or Photon Yukon or I'm open to suggestions - would 1 nitesight work for .22 & .223? . I have a thermal FLIR, so can see what's out there without using a lamp.
I spend a lot of time overseas, so don't want to spend a fortune for it to be locked away most of the year. I also know my own limitations and reckon 150yds would be my limit.
I look forward to your suggestions.

Nite site would work for both rifles but cheaper and better ones can be found here for the building.

Nite Site in all its variants will be surpassed by a home build for half the price based on an E700 camera.
If the 'heads up' shooting position using the TV screen seems unnatural consider an in-line unit with a small near eye display. Excellent commercial variants are the Ward D Vision 700 from NV Scopes and the NiteTek 300 (See link above). Like the Nite Site these will attach to your day scope. An excellent home build designed by .22-250Jock is also an óption, but requires a bit more work than the Nite Site equivalent.

The X Sight is problematic at the moment. hold off on spending your money and see if the latest batch of software changes fixes it.
The Photon gives a poorer picture than the E700 based units. Generally for longer ranges a doubler lens is popular. It's still a popular unit
, a variant with more magnification is due in a couple of months,which may make the doubler obsolete.
