18650 chargers

Evening chaps

Stuck a battery in my nitecore i4 tonight and after a couple of minutes the charger went pop, followed by a bit of a burning smell
No idea what happened with it the battery is fine but the charger is snookered

Soooo, need a new one
Is the new nitecore (D4) still the daddy or is there any others to consider?
not into hobby chargers though, strictly plug and play

I use a XTAR, charges 6 at a time, no meter just red or green led's but works for me

got a nitecore d4 following a thread on here before xmas. delighted i can now tell condition of my batteries and how much charge their holding. realised a few of my old ones aren't getting up there on the final voltage anymore.

I too recently invested in a D4 and find some of my cells can take hours to get the last bit of charge into them, and some won't 'complete'. I'm not sure if that's a good thing which indicates they can absorb so much or simply won't take the last ikkle bit. Fully charged seems to be 4.20 V which I thought is slightly too high so maybe there is a small tolerance between chargers.

Most usually show about 4.17 on my £5 something multimeter.

The cells are all 'free' laptop one's so I'm happy about the value for money and there are 30 odd floating about the odds and sods drawer I keep them in - which gets put into the shooting truck when I go out.

Had a look at the xtar chargers and saw a few comments online that they are better made than nitecore so I'm gonna try one of thier vp4's
