Rodp, only Vikings and honourable warriors deserve a floating burial upon a bed of reeds. Frau Stihl maybe a distant relative of Boadicea but it does not give her the right to bog. Be she part Goth or Visigoth she must Stihl conform to the EU standard of functionality and conformity. She must be accountable and represent value for money for the intended purchaser. Her longevity is enshrined in EU law and she must be certified as 'fit for purpose'. I put it to you that frau Stihl is a renegade and her country of origin is now questionable.

I think you've been deceived, frau stihl isn't a descendant of a great line of forest destroyers but a third world cheap copy let in by merkel in the name of humanity :o Frau stihl is nothing but an immigrant that wandered in to the fatherland in the back of a trailer, then took cover masquerading as a professional feller of large trees and specialist in woodland clearance.

You've bought a ringer  Burn her

look rodp, i was narrating this story and i did not expect to be upstaged. However you are partisan here and i appear to have blindly misjudged this forum methinks. I am humbled and your rhetoric becomes prose in mine eyes. I am beginning to believe there are two of each of yous and I am become confused. I am as a child amongst men of knowledge and ability. I am Stihled.

He's probably been abducted by The Federal Intelligence Service, modern day Gestapo, for maligning the proud products of the Fatherland. At this very moment he could be the victim of the Stasi water boarding contingent who will stop at nothing to keep the name Stihl pure and unsullied. :o

I wish him well, and hope he can hold his breath a long time

PS ............... don't mention my name............................. Blame it all on Adam and Phil

Am here, thought i had been slung out for being awful - but password corrupted or some such, so now have to use default password. Frau Stihl may well get a workout this weekend with someone else doing the business. Get knackered trying to start the bitch. Haven't managed to find a suitable host site for photos and require a new camera anyway by the looks of things. Am not very savvy here. Old Sony camera 12 years old. Rodp meant to ask do you use any kind of octane booster in your old car/s. Am told that octane can be boosted by 2 or 3 stars with this stuff by double dosing. Does sunndog have a white Nomex suit and a white full face helmet tucked away somewhere, oh, and strange thin soled shoes with fireproof laces.

 Yep :o  my worst fears are confirmed :lolno:  :problem: every time that I think that three steps are being made in a forward direction and some progress can be seen and measured by a successful outcome :o , a dire progress report :wtf: then informs one and all that reverse gear was engaged and backwards we go
 Springy "Zebedee" Onion you need to be breathing the "bloody Octane (Nitrous Oxide)" not using it as a fuel boost enhancer, can I ask without offending please :? are you taking any prescribed medication ??? :lolno: I am having sleepless nights thinking that your not firing on all cylinders "so to speak without being rude" :? :( Might say a few words for you and see if that might help  :x
 Phil
P.S. "double dosing with Nitrous Oxide" that's a cracker that I had better not get started on ???

Diesel me old fruit, 300 tdi in a Discovery one. It does me just fine, not got the fuel economy of a newer vehicle but so what, I like to drive it. It's minimalist on electronics, just enough to work and all available at sensible prices. Non of this £500 for a headlight or £3000 for an engine.
I've had the new cars, I've had the new range Rovers, quite happy now with something I actually want to drive rather than look good in.

One front wheel bearing has just started to moan, slightly. So I shall rebuild the front end completely, new bearings, new swivels, new swivel pins and bushes, possibly new discs. That's sure to set me back,...... oh let me think ....................... probably just over a £100  That's cheap motoring and on a motor I like, can't be bad

As for octane boosters, yes some do work. Engines like the old P6 3.5 were made to run on 5 star leaded so would need something added to keep the original engine spec. They ran at 10.5 / 1 if I remember correctly, quite high in it's day. beautiful engine though
