 If you value longevity always run any 2 stroke at a lower ratio that the manufactures recommend "IF YOU CAN COPE WITH THE EXTRA FUMES", 40 parts petrol to 1 part 2 stroke oil will give a far better piston lubrication than a 50 to 1 ratio "a huge amount of alloy pistons for a large number of Husqvarna saw models have been obsolete from the makers for a lot of years A new ORIGINAL piston for some of the closed port Husqvarnas would set you back inexcess of $130.00 if you could possibly find one ???
Phil
P.S. The more desirable closed port Husqvarna were preferred to have been built in Sweden using "MAHLE pots and pistons" rather than some of the alternatives. Do your research, build yourself a Frankenstein Husqvarna pulling a 9 tooth cog and running a full chisel skip chain, all singing and dancing when buzzing past 14,000 Revs and pulling chain like a machine gun  and you will not stop laughing till you curl your toes up if that is what gets your blood flowing  "BUT NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED AND ANYONE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION & SUPER DAMGEROUS as well   :wtf:

Kevgun works on prestigious 3 star cars and having only ever been to a beemer garage i was impressed with the setup and the UK staff. Unable to afford 3 star cars but the spec is undoubtedly impressive. Ford garages in the UK were always sad dirty places (second hand outlets equally sad) and now importing American muscle I see. I would like to see Hamilton beat Rosberg this year and it gives me great pleasure to see Vettel struggle. Shoemaker was never the driver he was made out to be and Damon Hill should have taken him out more often. Shame about Button. It would be good to see the Dutchman make good. More power to your elbow Kevgun. My Mondeo engine is apparently a bl eddy Peugeot lump - fer crying out - 46+ to the gallon though. Stihl, i can but dream.

Got your message hairyyoda, and there be wisdom in your 40/1 recommendation. i didn't realize you were an Husqvarna aficionado and I do remember Mahle pistons being special forged jobbies. Sadly i could only get Italian rubbish for my Norton 650 so I flogged it in bits years ago. And yes I split the crankcases on the 025 and even used the orange Stihl jointing compound at over £8 quids a pop - it did the job though. When it cut it cut well. Frau Stihl lives for the time being. Am afraid I am not really a two stroke man but will consider upping the oil mix and see what happens. There is no reference point here for me other than internet hearsay and complaint and my negativity and so far the only Stihl champion is sunndog but I think we are talking at slightly cross purposes here, however all words are wisdom in the event. At one point I was convinced that vibration was shifting the mixture screws but when one hears so much controversy about the product it has to be enemy action. War is inevitable.

Branston, man is on this earth but a short time, and in that time he should drive a car he likes, not a sensible one  Mine's 21 years old shortly, and I bought it from choice, and will hopefully have it to the end of my days

hairyyoda you are a slave driver but i do like you. Dunno - brain just goes off at a tangent. Anyway I had this vision of you parked on your wooden porch in the woods with a dram waiting for the bats to appear. Are there any fish left in your neck of the woods.

:wtf: Well my newest best'est best friend   you have just been renamed whether you like it or not :o  you will now and for the foreseeable future be allocated the nom de plume of "Spring Onion" It would seem that the diverse subject mater of you posts jump about from one unrelated subject content to another completely unrelated subject irrespective of you not solving or giving a successful or unsuccessful feedback on the original problem that you are trying to resolve in your originating post. :? You are randomly moving around with you ponderings faster than a flea can jump off the backside of a hedgehog :wtf: "hence your new nom de plume "Spring Onion  " "Is your 025 running silky smooth and 100% reliable" or are you far too busy looking to book some tickets for the motor racing ??? Is the 025 alive :D or dead :problem:  or on the back burner so to speak :? ??? Focus Concentrate Priorities winter is closing in and you have not cut one log yet ???
