Thanks for the excellent unbiased review of the Ward-D-Vision by the way.
I was actually trying to do the right thing by the forum by staying off of it. I was in discussion with Geoff and George re. advertising and sponsoring the forum and didn't feel it would be appropriate for me to post about our products while this wasn't concluded. Also I didn't want to generate any more hype and put us in a position of never catching up on orders.
There's no conspiracy or funny business. We were just busy sorting out manufacture and looking after the pre-orders.
Now that we are clear and caught up with the units in stock and the manufacturing process to back it up I've been able to conclude the advertising issue with George so now I feel I can post on the forum in good conscience and indeed looking forward to joining in the other discussions on here.
Cheers

ayup clive
i never thought there was any kind of conspiracy just could'nt fathom your un-timely disapearance
your quite welcome to an unbiased review, i actually do like the unit on the whole
the only time it really falls short is it hasent quite got the legs for a full 350yrd fox shot. but to be fair you never claimed it was a foxing tool.....i'd be more than happy to trial any upgraded versions for you, f.o.c of course! lol
i'm sure you've read this from me before. but i'v got you cornered now
on the current W-D-V that bloody power button needs moving. thats the biggest bug bear i have with it
when i get round to it i'm gonna swap the power button and three pin plug around
also the rubber eye cup lets the unit down mate. its got a right cheapo feel to it....the one you fitted is about 8 quid on ant supplies a much nicer one next to it is a pound more, and thats retail....a tiny extra investment there would make a big difference in perceived quality
and while i'v got you. is it ok to run the unit while its being charged from an external 12v battery?
you'll be sorry you reply'd to me lol

Excellent! As you've noticed there are some minor compromises on the design. The whole point of the exercise was to cure everything that I saw was wrong with add ons and then make it affordable and simple.
With the switch and socket positions they are dictated by the tooling. At present the mould tool doesn't need any 'shuts' which are extra bits of the tool to make holes in the short sides of the casing. Shuts increase the cost of the tool and the manufacturing. Not by a lot but it's another added cost which could only be passed on as the margin is so tight. Anything fitted on the centre rear location (where the socket is) needs to be externally mounted (does up from the outside) and we did look at a LOT of switches and the one we use which I think has a great tactile feel to it and is completely silent is only available as a panel mount.
Yes the camera isn't the one with quite the most legs available, but what it does very well is handle light levels. So you can use loads of IR at close range and it doesn't clip and exposes well (oo-er). Again this makes the shooting process simple in that the the IR doesn't need adjusting from short to long range. This is quite important for the intended audience of Air / Rimfire shooters. Having said that I don't have a problem using it on my .223
The whole thing is designed to be upgradeable as and when things move on and any improvements we make would be able to be done to the original version. i.e. if we did a really super dooper long range version for solely centre fire rifles the original could be upgraded for the difference in price between the 2 models.
Agreed on the eyepiece rubber. Again we tried a fair few and this one does double duty of keeping the eyepiece focus assembly dry and sealed up and was the best for that purpose. The ones we have now are still the same mould but a softer matt finish rubber. Also if you are using it on a light recoiling rifle you can whizz round the front of it with a stanley knife and knock 12mm off the overall length of the unit.
On the 12v charger the battery is protected and the device doesn't have a massive draw. It should be fine but for your own piece of mind keep an eye on the temperature of the charger
Cheers
