Main working axes on the rack, lil ones like you've got coming on the cabinet to the right, fallers belt on the rack, axeroons and pickeroon on the middle hooks
slasher/cant hook/saw up top, and a couple of oddments on the floor

I don't carve many spoons (fecking lot of work just for a spoon  ) but that size i call a 'crafting' axe. Just a little fella for removing material quickly when you're making sommat

That elwell axe will be good steel, what sorta size is it phil?.....might have a number stamped on it somwhere
That's a nice set up there Adam  I suppose axes are like hammers, you can be over hammered or under hammered, nice to have one that's "just right"
Always tried to drum it in to my son that too much hammer is as bad as not enough. Will he listen ? No chance, always goes for the biggest

Noticed your lifting chains, 10mm and 7mm maybe? You don't pay full retail for those do you, or for the testing?

Set back Rodders  , just taken 2 photographs of your "new second-hand bargain buy vintage 1.25lb. hand axe" and I haven't a USB to laptop lead for her phone. PM me a address and a mobile phone number and you can have photographs today and I will have it in the post to you before midday tomorrow

Chopping, slashing and hacking is a mightily serious subject  not recommended for anyone who does not mind a few splinters and some blood loss from time to time  it can easily be described as a disease or an addiction to have a weakness to collect sharp and vicious tree fighting kit :wtf:   "Billhooks" now that is more varied subject with a huge collecting interest

Cheers rod, yeah theres pretty much an axe for all seasons there....there is still a few more not in the pic though
You can deffo have too much axe for some situations, try clearing spindly scrubby stuff with a 4lb felling axe
oh the husky branded one is fith from the left on the rack and goes in the white sheath you can see on my fallers belt, i'll do a couple of pics tomorrow

Phil, theres a billhook all the way over on the right of the rack. I'm not a great fan of billhooks tbh, i'v got that one which is thin and fast with a proper hook for dragging brush and that about does me. For other billhook type work i prefer an axe/machete/parang
You are right though mate, tree beating gear is very addictive

I should have showed you the belt sheath i made for that billhook when you were up here rod....i had some good heavy canvas, cut it to shape, nice neat folds for the hems and a belt loop. All nicely cut from one piece of material....Then it dawned on me that i wanted to use it the next day but couldn't face all that hand sewing. So i just folded it where needed and wrapped the whole thing in duck tape
that was five years ago, can't believe its not fallen apart yet. Duck tape......awsome stuff :D

Those chains might well be 10 and 7mm, sounds about right, cant remember just now
the bigger one is a 15 foot dragging chain and the smaller a 4 leg jobby. Did get a good price on those, they'll never be tested though :shh:

Dragging chains don't really need test, only lifting. The definition of a lifting chain is "does the load leave the floor, even a millimetre", if so then it becomes a lifting chain.

Did you get that sewing machine up and running at all? Plenty of heavy canvas here if you need any, and miles and miles of thread and velcro

yeah the 4 legger is a lifting chain, theres a crate full of other chain lengths and shackles on the floor out of shot. Wether its a lifting or dragging chain just depends on wether something needs lifting or dragging though really

I gave up trying to thread that sewing machine, i nearly got it but its joined the ranks of the un-finished projects now
