It's misty here but I just gave it a go. The pic was crap in auto but picking up sheep, in semi it did seem to give ever so slightly better detail on the landscape but the heat source was no different. I couldn't get anywhere near your pics but it's a total different night to what I saw through it last night when it was dry. Switching back to auto the pic just slightly darkened, the sheep looked the same and I could still just about make out the landscape. You really need to compare them at the same time as it was pointless taking pics with mine tonight.

TJ's should sort it, be good to hear the outcome though:thumbup:

thanks for the meet up again.
dropped unit up to t jacks today and prove to jamei at t jacks it was not performing correctly. we tryed a 518eb and a 518ec all worked in auto. mine worked a bit in auto my gain was low about 20 there units were up around the hundred mark with there off set 500 ish and mine around 700. any way uped the gain though the menu and hey presto a good image. my unit is being sent to Belgem for repair. i feel a bit lost no without it , will have to go back to spotting with a gen 2 monocular with a laser and watch for eye shine. used to do it best year was 166 with no thermal. how i done that i do not no.
does any ones 518 work regarding the standby mode in the menu ????????

Glad to hear it's getting sorted

Do you mean the auto eye piece shut down?

Mine worked when I first got it but when I was looking through it with my none shooting eye the thing kept going into stand by at the wrong time. Since then I've just left it on the whole time and not bothered with the shut down. So in answer to your question yes it 'did' work..

Same for me. Couldn't be doing with the on/off thing, so now it's left on all of the time too.
