Re: Hey foreign guys...Yankee question
Rod, i'm with what you're saying about the emigration policy, i said so before "German were naive", at least emigrants from Arabic Islamic Revolutions should be sent to the Gulf states and Turkey, Sharia Laws is allready established there (Turkey on the way), both encouraged the suni masses to go against their governments to take power and establish Sharia States controled by them, under fake initial freedom demands.
But it was all better to sort out without the Leave (if that was possible) IDK?
I don't know much about your country domestic details, I doubt that all the Remain had personal benefits from the EU. Every voice coming says that the UK youth wanted to remain.
If there were a "your better" attitude, then things where going the wrong direction, and if true i go back to what i said earlier that it was all a political Exit play.
All parts lose IMO.
P.S. The army of the Soviet Union (Soviet states headed by Russia), and the army of the United States of America, which both had states poorer than others, helped both (current two) of you a lot in WWII, no body forgets anything.

Not the ones I spoke to

Re: Hey foreign guys...Yankee question
Well.. Congratulations then, if that's the right choice! Everybody wants only the best for their own country.
Re: Hey foreign guys...Yankee question
Of course they do, or, the best for them personally. I would like to think most voted for their country, not personal gain as that's very short term, but reading between the lines on other forums it appears a lot were just thinking of themselves NOW. And now some are whingeing that this deal has gone down, and that contract has been put on hold, don't know if they can now afford to move to a better house etc etc, tough, suck it up and think of the future.
I will admit to my reasons, and they were for the long term benefits to this country and therefore my children, and the neighbours children, and their children and so on, personal gain (or loss) didn't come into it, so I voted ............ out.

I've always felt equally Scottish and British, but I've never felt European.
What we joined back in 1973 was NOT the European Union (EU), it was the European Economic Community (EEC) - and most people believed it was simply to improve our trade with Europe.
Two things changed the game and led to Thursdays' result
The EEC became the EU and the goal of the EU is to create a "United States of Europe" - most Brits don't want that
Enlargement to allow ex members of the Soviet Union to join.
Those ex Soviet countries were much poorer than all of the countries in the EU and given the rules of free movement of goods, services and people it was inevitable that large numbers of people from those poor countries would move into the far richer Western European countries to try to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Given that Britain is the second largest economy in the EU and has a relatively generous benefits system, it was inevitable that a disproportionate number of people from these poor Eastern European countries would come to the UK - so immigration and the apparent (but incorrect) situation that these people were taking jobs that should be going to British citizens.
Probably the best summary of the Brits lack of enthusiasm for Europe was given by a historian on radio 4 yesterday when he said
"The EU was invented by clever, French, Catholic, left wing burocrats - and most Brits would have problem with at least 3 of those 5"
On the other side of the coin, it was also said yesterday that "Great Britain is no more, it is now merely Little England"
Cheers
Bruce

Re: Hey foreign guys...Yankee question
Well lets stir the pot a little bit on this quite Saturday night
It's a bit like the same ideas that were involved in parts of the FIFA saga, you form a "SPECIAL CLUB WITH HUGE DAILY ADMISSION FEES" and the special club committee and their entourage of underlings clap their hands that they have reached "Nirvana" and daydream the years away thinking of how to invent some regulations to grow straight bananas. According to the media "one alleged EU trade deal with a far east country is still waiting to be completed 9 years after talks commenced in 2007" A few words out of Dads Army are well suited I think ?
Captain Mannering we are doomed, we are all domed
Thanks all Phil

ahh, sounds like democracy. Sweet, sweet democracy. Ya'll gotta give your hard earned money to the poor, and hillbilly nations left over from the comm bloc era. Take from the rich, and give to the poor...and make sure government continues to occupy the pockets of the rich. I don't blame you guys in the least for doing what you do.
Sounds like y'all got 'Murican problems.
Just remember, if you break it, you bought it. Might want to remind Germany that while they're shoveling money into Greece.
On the bright side, gas prices over here dropped 35cents a gallon. The dollar is still stable.

Re: Hey foreign guys...Yankee question
Frogman, Greece never stays bought. Hundreds of years of Ottoman occupation resulted in a mentality of only trust your family, only pay cash, only be paid in cash, taxes are theft so don't pay taxes.
Smart when occupied by another race who are only interested in squeezing tribute from you, but useless when trying to build a coherent nation state.
Any money sent to Greece is simply seen as their due, compensation for past atrocities. Any money paid out to eurobankers is proof that they are still occupied by latter day Ottomans.

Hope Germany's got deep pockets because the French will do everything they can to get out of paying their share, that's if they have the money in the first place
