45 yards to light shy quarry is very covert territory in my opinion. That warrants the least amount of light signature you can get - and then some.nighteye wrote:Thanks for the reply's guys , sorry about the vague info .
I will be shooting up to 45 yards with air rifle and I will be looking into diy as I have more time than cash at the moment.
Thanks again
The rigs that need the least light signature start with gen2/gen3 tubed (very expensive) Dedicated rifle scope best.
Much cheaper but often needing just an itsy bitsy Ir light will be digital, dedicated commercial build or home build 'scope-less' which incorporates a crosshair is still making very good advances. Dedicated rifle required - that can be used in daylight, but with less clarity than a day-scope. They are fixed mag - usually around the equivalent of about five mag but doublers can be fitted for longer range users.
Both of the above can be used with zero IR on clear moonlit nights.
Then there are puh-lenty options for fitting a rig behind your day-scope - but the day-scope has lots of lenses inside which rob much needed light - so need more IR to enable sufficient light to reach your camera sensor.
They are the most convenient though because you can swap them to different rifle scopes without needing to re-zero them.
More advice will no doubt be forthcoming.
Dave.
