Damn this accursed dyslexia as someone on the BBS says - which you seemingly predicted. I meant the crosshairs thickening at the edges on the NV viewer - well 'I' know what I meant.

That might be something to do with me fitting a 5mp 16mm lens in the E700 to check if it loses the black corners seen on the monitor with the standard 16mm lens on this scope - which is more 'tunnelly' than most others I've used.

I'll be swapping a few lenses about in the field later to see what differences I spot between the standard 16mm lens, an F1.2 16mm, a 3mp 16mm and a 5mp 16mm lens - if my eyes are up to spotting the difference.

Dave/Bruce.
I now know what you mean by the white halo. I have just compared the 3-16x42 S-Tac with its big brother 2.5-17.5x56 and can see it on the little brother when looking through my Ward 700 IN DAYLIGHT, and what can only be discribed as white out/over exposure in the middle, is that what you mean ?
It is very similar to my Swaro Z6i.

No, I see it in the scope itself - without NV.

not seen this white halo my self, got 2 of them to use here, and no issues with running an e700 vf2 setup.

can certainly say these are brighter than my bushnel ellite in the evening

Cheers, I was waiting for you to check the one you just bought lol. I know this might sound daft but what if I called it fog- at say higher than 14~16 mag?

Mine had no issues at all. I've not looked at this new one as yet.....still waiting for new wdv to come too marry them up.

I think great little scope hence buying a 2nd I'm even consider a 3rd for the virgin just to keep bell housing the same.
One is on my 243 and tracked perfect erc and like I said brighter than Bushnell and ran perfect with my nv as far as saying better than the bushnel and hawkes I've used

Cheers - I'm finding it with the bare scope at and near highest mag. I didn't notice it with the NV rig on because I don't shoot NV at that mag though I did occasionally zoom in while getting accustomed to the scope with the rig on it.

Huh - guess who still can't shake off 40 years of night shift bodyclock! Apparently the statins aren't helping that issue.

Anyway - the nice people at Optics Warehouse had agreed to compare the scope with others and said there was no discernable difference but I could have a replacement if I wished - which I accepted. I personally think the replacement is better with regard to the milky issue.

I fancied a scope/add-on stress test between the Sightron and my Hawke Varmint 3-12x42 before fitting it to the rifle and marking it in case I wanted to move it on. Some of you know what I'm like about minimal IR - and I think the best way to compare NV is to do it at its outer limits so I used a known 180 yard long field location with only a 50mm lens EVO torch IR having an AS pill in it so that the amount of graininess could help compare the image quality. E700 camera lens was 16mm.

I used a slip on DSA with the pod fitted to a mini weaver rail screwed to it so that absolutely everything would be the same: IR LED/lens/zoom, camera and PV110 DVR. Masking tape was used to make both eye bells similar diameter. I mostly use my rigs at about 8 or 10 mag so set both scopes to 9 mag - which allowed me to just frame 3 fence posts in the picture to show that similar mags were in use.

The Sightron won and I will be keeping it for the 17REM. 8-)

I'll process and upload the video later today.
