Just joined this forum after being referred to you from The Stalking Directory, as you are the people in the know about NV, Thermal etc!
I am married with two grown up sons and more or less semi-retired running a nice little B&B after a hard career as a hotelier/restaurateur.
My prime reason for being active in shooting sports is to produce my own delicious meat to eat - I experiment a lot with making charcuterie, salami's, sausages, home-made bacon and hams, and smoke some of my own produce. It does make you very popular with friends and family
My principle shooting activity is deer stalking, I have some 1,000 acres of land to do this on in the North-Cotswolds, but most of it is open arable farmland so not so easy neither terribly productive. I also share a few permissions with other members of the Deer Management Group I am in, the http://northcotswolddmg.co.uk/.
I have seen Thermal viewers in action recently and think they are a great aid to deer counts and surveys (which the DMG does for landowners and conservation charities), to learn what you actually have on your land, and to track shot deer in difficult terrain. So I have purchased my first thermal viewer and keenly await its delivery.
I have the DSC2, the BDS Deer Manager qualification, and LANTRA L2 Center-fire/fox control, and shoot vermin , game and deer with the appropriate tool for the job: a .22 air rifle, .17HMR, .243 OR .308
