Hi to one and all from Kent.
After spending a few weeks going through different threads and posts and getting my head round home built n.v, i thought i should introduce myself.
I live in a small village and have been involved with a local shooting syndicate for some years, doing all the usual jobs to keep it running including pest and vermin control. Now I'm retired i spend most days roaming around 1500 acres of farmland and woodland ,I know it's a horrible job but someone has to do it.

I have a Tracer Lithium-Polymer Power Pack BP2544 12v 8Ah that i use for lamping, could this be used to power a add on unit I will be building. I already have a 3 mode T20IR and have ordered the E700 camera & monitor from Sure 24, plus screwfix fittings etc:.
If the Tracer is underpowered, fair enough, will use rechargeable batteries instead.

The Tracer is not underpowered - it's seriously too much capacity and therfore bigger and heavier than you'll need for an NV set up.
The Tracer will certainly work but an Elwire 12V 1800mahmaH pack that can mount on the add-on with a bit of double sided velcro will be a lot smaller and lighter.
You might also consider running the NV on 2 x 18650 lithium batteries. That's only 8 volts, but it's enough to power an E700 and screen.

Thanks for the advice, this is a great place to learn, from helpful people like your self. Will be heading over to the Elwire site to see the options there.
I know the Tracer is overweight for the addon, but all my shooting these days are from the cab window so a long lead would have sorted that problem ,but will keep it for the lamp.

Hi, Welcome. Ref your Deben Lithium 8Ah battery, it may be a little larger and bulkier than necessary for this application but will work perfectly and give you a long run time. They are anything but 'Heavy' and on the plus side you already own one. Its worth mentioning the handy built in power meter and the fact the self discharge over time is negligible. Have fun.

I am still thinking about using the Tracer and what you say makes a lot of sense, so I will probably make up the addon with it first, just to see how it works. So thank you.
