So we are being labelled as 'takers' just because we have a low post count???

Chas, I have a low post count, 25 in 18 months, so I must be a 'taker'...

When I joined this forum, I was in need of a night vision solution to a rabbit problem, and needed to evaluate what best suited my purpose, DIY or 'off the shelf' so to speak. I did introduce myself and outlined my problem.
I spent time reading through a lot of posts, as well as watching youtube videos, and decided that I would buy a Nite Eye NE500. Reasons, I needed something quickly and what I had 'taken' from browsing the forum was that most stuff came on the slow boat from the far east, and some of it was either not as described or broken (as in Daves recent experience with the busted screens), so decided to buy from the UK, and with a years guarantee, any problems would hopefully be resolved a lot easier and quicker than dealing with the far east.

Well, the NE500 arrived in a couple of days, and I tried it out. Although not cheap, it did exactly what I wanted, so I was happy. It still functions efficiently 18 months later so I am more than happy. I only use an air rifle so it is more than adequate. Even my 2 shooting mates (rimmy & CF users) were very impressed.

So what have I 'given'? Apart from sending a member some mp3 calls, not much. I have no experience of building anything NV, and there are a nucleus of regular posters on here with vast experience who are able to sort things out for people needing help or advice.
When I received and tested my nite eye, I did put up a thread with some photos etc, and it got quite a few views but not even 1 comment, so I deleted it as worthless, interest wise, to the members on here.

Dave, you could be right, there may well be plenty of people who are watching, learning and copying, but I think it's a tad unfair to imply that those who do not post are gleaning without joining in.

I come on this forum most days, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, to have a read through topics I feel will be of interest.

Anyway, this is another post so I think I'm on 26 now... how many do I need to avoid the ducking stool?

Mister Gain, we have to find out if you weigh as much as a duck before we can drown you!
'Tis a pity you deleted your NE500 review as I don't think there are any on here at the moment.
I've more posts than Sika Stag, but I think he has provided a lot more to the forum and its members than I have. So post count is fairly irrelevant.
I think Dave's point is the core of the forum posters could be seen as a bit of a clique, or may feel they are lecturing to an empty class room. A few replies from the silent majority, discussion of builds or hunts, successful or not, would give them some feedback and also make the forum a little more sociable.

OOPS, stop talking like a big girls blouse. :P

You got the wrong end of the stick there Mister Gain, you've made 26 posts on here unless I'm reading something wrong, but it could have been 27 - bet that taught us a lesson! :D

If you put your glasses on you'll see my points were about people making NO posts, diddly squit, naff all, zero. I can't recall saying anything about low post counts.

And yes, we do sometimes feel like we're in an empty classroom.

You'd have to find a bl00dy great duck  an 18 stone one. As for the NE500, it wasn't a review, more a couple of photo's with it mounted on the rifle, and a few descriptive words and my opinion of it.. hardly a review  mind you, it's stood the test of time as far as I'm concerned.

Dave I was wearing my glasses  , post count was mentioned by Chas. Thing is, and I'm only speculating here, that there could be members who have joined quite recently and are still ploughing through the posts. I would say it's a good thing as most of the questions and answers are already posted.

Nah. I'm an anti-social git. That's why most of the people I chat with are in the USA & UK. No chance of them popping around for a cuppa.
If we are going to establish a welcoming committee, I volunteer Hartshot & Snoopy. They should get a bunch of replies, mostly "Wut?!" :shifty:
