Welcome to the forum.
As mentioned above the UF-T20 torch converted to IR is the way to go.
You can expect 200 meters shooting, 300 meters target recognition / eyeshine using the 850nm Oslon Black LED in a UF-T20 when mounted on a Photon.

For longer distances you should look at the UF-T20 modified with a 66mm Crelant head.
Forum member Sika Stag does the 66mm versions for, IIRC, 96 quid.

Marky610 & Sika Stag do the standard conversions, Sika Stag also does red LED conversions for lamping and 940nm LEDs for those who wish to be covert, with less red glow at the torch head. The 940 will give reduced range though.
If you want to make your own then Marky610, Sika Stag & Vakeiros will sell you the LEDs or a drop in assembly. You will have to wait three weeks to get the torch from China if you go that road.

Marky610 has remote pressure switches now, Sika Stag should have them next week.

Some Bloke will be along shortly to sell you on the joys of the Ultrafire WF 501B torch converted to IR. These are smaller, with a smaller head and will give roughly 100 meters shooting distance.

All the torches can be mounted in the Photon's side mount using a weaver ring. Or you can get an adjustable for elevation and windage mount that goes on top of the gun. Might be a good idea for longer ranges as the Photons integral mount is not perfectly parallel with the scope tube.

All of the above members have threads in the for sale section.

Corrected a couple of bits of that for you, here's a video of it in action in moonlight and clouded over conditions. :D :

The Ultrafire 501B easily manages two hundred meters with a 700MAH low power 501B IR conversion specifically made to suit the standard 5 mag Photon's excellent light gathering ability, I can do another one with an Oslon Black build too if you'd like to see it but that much IR is a pointless waste for the Photon in my experience with dedicated digital NVD's. :D

Dave, whats your torches like with decent tubed Nv? I remember Marky saying the t20 was too bright so didn't look into it any further. I can't stand the bulk of an nm800 so want something small. I'd want to use it with an add on and a dedicated tubed Nv scope. Dedicated out to 200 but would it also do an add on for fox range?

Hmm, I have scant experience of tubed so can't advise on that question TBH, it is about the most compact IR LED illuminator available commercially though. I would be happy to send you a 3 memory mode Oslon Black one, and a 700MAH one on sale or return for the research benefit of all of us if you are up for that?
I know a few guys are well happy using one of my Oslon Black conversions for their challenger at ratting ranges but that's no comparison.

More decisive answers then:
Dedicated digital riflescopes - very dooable at 200 yards
It's defo not up to 200 yards for rear digital add-ons.
One of it's main versatility merits is the ability to rapidly swap modules in the dark with no tools needed.

This might help you weigh up the size aspect of the 501b relative to 3 rifles, it's small enough to permanently live on them:

Here is my home brew agricultural but avant-garde? pre-Photon dedicated digital experience for possible interest to newish members:

What a generous offer Dave, I'd gladly accept in the name of science

I would think the low powered one 'should' do the dedicated but I haven't got a clue really so it would be good to test both LED's to see the difference and exactly how they perform with add on and dedicated.
Could you also send a visable LED? White or red whatever's cheapest.

I'll send you a PM now regarding payment..

I'm well stocked at the moment so in the spirit of discovery for the good of the forum I will send them on a sale or return/part return basis because of my lack of knowledge regarding tubed compatibility. I'd appreciate a warts and all evaluation please. :geek:

I'm not very good at giving money back.

I don't currently do white modules though but am dabbling in it.

PM's now in progress.
