Use mounts with rail on top like mine and mount the illuminator on that, simplesBRYAN3 wrote: It was a bit disconcerting to read a post last night about some of the faults with the Photon. Photon for a new boy.

Land Rovers, who would be daft enough to own one?

There are several users on this forum who are based in E Anglia, if you're not too far away you could have a look at some of the bits I have but there are guys with some really sophisticated kit which is much more effective than mine ( as you might guess sophisticated = expensive).

The accessory rail pointing to the left of POA bit:
It's not a massive amount TBH - just that I have an eye for straight things and notice that sort of thing quite easily.

OK Chaps.
Still no Photon
Just thinking now about possibly cancelling it and putting extra money in for a Drone Pro.
I can't fathom the status of the Drone though.
A post on here stated it would be ready hopefuly in a month or two and that was February,I think.
Doe's anyone know anything please?
Bryan.

Just to continue the deterioration of this thread, Some Bloke, with your Eye for Straight Things (TM), what can you tell us about Sunndog?
Bryan3:
Carl Moore is the importer for the Drone Pro, you can PM him on here and see if he can update you further. AFAIK his current status is "I'll make no promises and take no deposits until I have stock" or words to that effect, which is better than taking deposits six months in advance for the Photon rather than just making a call back list.
I'm on the waiting list for a Photon in Australia, we haven't seen one yet.

Bryan, the accessory rail is just a smidgin out that only gets noticed with the Photon when the IR is on a nice tight beam so bunnies you can't see out of your sight off-screen don't see it so much. That's why I won't use a zoom illuminator on any of my rifles for lamping or NV, but low power tightly focused beams. If anyone can give me a good reason to put a wide light beam out front of a rifle please tell me.
You can either just use a slightly de-focused beam, pack the mount a tad, or mount it above the Photon with orthodox high mount scope/torch mounts.

It's called adjustability, try shooting rats around buildings, farm machinary, piles of detritus and you'll know what I meansome bloke wrote: If anyone can give me a good reason to put a wide light beam out front of a rifle please tell me.![]()

Re: Photon for a new boy.
I could agree with that for visible red rat lamping - or if using a wide FOV NV spotter to be fair.Marky610 wrote:It's called adjustability, try shooting rats around buildings, farm machinary, piles of detritus and you'll know what I meansome bloke wrote: If anyone can give me a good reason to put a wide light beam out front of a rifle please tell me.![]()
