First, the N550 is pretty much outdated tech, the new Yukon Photon will do the same job for less. Either will need a doubler lens on the front for longer shots. Google Dr Bobs Doubler or D.Pinto for the n550, Marky610 on this forum sells adaptors to fit the doubler to the Photon. My guess is its good to 200 yards, viewing to 300.
The Photon sells for 420 pounds/495 Euros, so you aren't being offered a ripping deal. The price is good compared to what is being asked on Ebay for N550s though.

The N750/770 has a much better camera, will still want a doubler (Dr Bobs or D.Pinto) Still probably a 200 yard proposition, but stretching it may be possible.

The Drone Pro (see sponsors sub forum at bottom of the main page) promises to have a better camera and eye display than the 750 and may make the distance you require. Comes with a doubler in the ten power version.

The Nightmaster is expensive. They sell for a lot less direct from the factory in the USA. UK buyers have to go through the UK distributor, you may be able to order direct:

Or, get a UF-T20 IR or red LED conversion with similar or better performance for half that. Marky610, Sika Stag and Vaikeros all sell them in the sales section.

Just to add, seriously consider getting a separate spotting scope. Spotting with your rifle in the dark is bad form, lovers, dog walkers, and drunks can be out and about, if you scan with your rifle scope then you risk sweeping them with your muzzle.

hi, " shooting /scanning" my own private lands! so be ,only me on said lands...and if there was someone else there, they be getting a hiding for trespassing....!!

Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

I knew a teacher who was tasked to cull some 'roos that were in a wheat paddock. Roo's were agitated and jumping around. One critter was slower than the rest, so he he took a bead with his Lee Enfield and had the first stage taken up on his trigger while he waited for the moon to rise a little more and give a positive ID. Good thing he did. The 'critter' was one of his school students out after curfew chasing the 'roos with a cricket bat.

Another story. Guy out hunting in a cane field with a 'friend', movement through the cane, 'friend' tells him "its a pig, shoot", shooter waits for positive ID. It wasn't a pig, it was the shooters little brother who had decided to join the hunt.

One of the new photon owners on here has already reported seeing eye shine through the Photon that turned out to be a dog walker with reflectors on his shoes.

Giving someone a hiding for trespassing is completely different to pointing a loaded gun at them. Positive ID of your target and backstop before raising the gun is always the best option. As you can get a half decent digital spotter for 100 quid I can't see the problem with maintaining basic firearms safety.

as i keen hunter and shooting for over 20+ years,

and have 12+ guns"from pistols,shotguns,rifles .22-.338...

i'm licence'd to carry 7500 rounds @ any one time!!

and, have well over 4000 acres to hunt if not closer to 5000 !! ALL OF WHICH IS MY OWN LAND " i think, i'm able to maintain firearms basics"

Frankly, I don't care how much land you have or how long you've been shooting, swinging a loaded gun around just to have a look see implies poor firearms safety. Get a spotter - that's what they're for.

sorry mate, space does not equal safety
i am an ex game keeper and have worked on 15000 acre estates. the more space you've got the more chance of finding someone who should'nt be there

n.v also carries an extra risk in that people probably wont know that you are there. you may well be allowed to carry 7500rnds but it only takes one, in the wrong place. to end up in a world of shit


radagast's post probably did lean a little on the preachy side to a seasoned shooter. but i think the mushroom munching ozzy posted in that way in response to your comment about trespassers mate

as for your question
the going rate for a n550 with doubler over here £600. and you'll need to add an i.r source to that
so a hell of a lot more money than a red torch
