G'day! I knew a white Russian girl who's family came out of Shanghai. *Sigh* to be young and not dumb would be a wonder.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Here is something I put together yesterday, I'll have to wait a few weeks to see how good it is when I go back to the UK for a holiday.

i thought when you said "15w"(atts)... well, i assumed it was a typo, intended to be 1.5 watt...

now the picture? FIFTEEN watts?

so... you have five different 3-watt emitters in that puppy??
Well, I understand that, boys... but see, my CAT gets the silly idea you're making fun of HIM... then he gets, *really* mean...

It's based on this torch, but I added an Asheric head and lens. The advert states 5 x 3 watt ir LED's but I have no idea if it actually is 15watts.
Do you think it might work?

ayup hamish

i'v no doubt your torch will work, the question is. how well

those multi led dropin's dont work as well with aspherics as the single led jobs. it might be as well with the flat lens in it....plus you would be very lucky to get the focal length right for the aspheric in a a straight swap

Thanks for the comments. I'll try it tonight with Aspheric lens in the larger head, flat lens in larger head, and flat lens in the head it came with. I only have a 1/3 Ccd 540TVL with a 16mm lens, and approximate 30 built in IR LEDs so not sure what the results will be.
The other issue is I don't have independent power and TV yet, so will have to try it from my balcony on the 38th floor. Another issue is finding areas with no ambient light in a city of 22 million people is not easy!

Regards,
Hamish
