Just came back from sorting the animals out, saw one of a pair of Short Eared Owls chomping on what looked like a young rat or mouse. I wondered why the Barn Owls were scarce lately !

Whilst stopped at a pedestrian crossing in Beverley recently I couldn't help but notice the odd state of dress gracing this young lady (I use the term lightly) that crossed in front of me, she had obviously forgotten to put her skirt on.
Tights, slightly askew and not the sort normal exposed complete with reinforced gusset on full display
Now I might not be a fashion god myself, but had I seen a bloke walking about in his Y fronts I would have thought that slightly odd and realised he'd forgotten his trousers, so does the same apply to the female species or is what would appear to be "underwear" quite acceptable to be used as "exposed wear".
I swear blind she'd just forgotten her shirt.

The ducklings have taken a bashing this year, so far only ONE Mallard seen. One !!! Moorhens have done well, plenty of the little black golf balls of fluff about.
The only cygnet fatally disappeared 2/3 weeks ago, doesn't look good for the wildfowl population around here this year at all. Of the 3 cygnets that fledged last year, on my patch 2 have died
No goslings seen, that's not unusual, they normally turn up here a little later in the summer anyway.
The crows branched 3 weeks later than is usual, none on my patch, ooops
A Magpie nest on public land next to mine, fledged last Sunday !
It's all messed up, bigtime.
On the plus side, the Oystercatchers and Lapwings have broods running around, probably because they didn't nest until it dried up a little. Either that or it's their second attempt.
