lies, damned lies and statistics

Post by Gloop » 05 Jun 2013, 22:29

So I keep a record of what I shoot and as I have been getting bored at work I have been practicing my work with spreadsheets. The joy of vlookup and pivot tables. Really must get to grip with if statements.
Anyway over the last 2.1/2 years my stats come out as,
Rats 4%
Rabbits 91%
Fox 3%
Deer 1%

The rats are likely to go down unless I find somewhere local to go shooting them.
Fox are likely to go up and overtake rats as I have been called out to deal with more of those recently.
Rabbits will come down a bit because there just don't seem to be the numbers. Certainly seems to be more myxie on the ground this year. However it is predominantly rabbiting I do so I cannot see it going much lower than 85%.
Deer will probably remain constant or low. I shoot for the pot and we do not have many deer on site. Well one less than last week, Whoohoo.

There will be more useless and boring facts when I decide I need more practice. Possibly a percentage breakdown by year?

You really need to analyse it by time of day, day of week, light/dark and weather, or you could just get out more

hmm although i'm not up on bissiness stats i always get that horrable feeling of 'percent of what exacly'..

to me its like having a factor of 8 or a factor of 32 and thinking to myself, maybe if i use another method i can change the numbers to 56 and 15 lol.

I have to think of things to while away the day at work as we are not allowed to surf the web and as we are shutting the manufacturing plant later this year things are a bit quiet as the customers hold off deciding what to do.

Unfortunately they will not let me go out and play whilst at my desk. Oh well.
