connect my watec camera and/or thermal to it, bolt it to the top of the truck connect it to a monitor so I can drive around in the warm and spot eyeshine/heat signatures then turn and shoot.

Have a look here.

HaHaHa,
I thought I recognised the pictures in the link - I posted them!!
That little pan and tilt will be OK for a Watec or the thermal, but it can't handle much weight (so no big illuminators) and only has a +/-15 degree tilt range (so looking up steep hills or down deep dales)

Cheers

I did think about that but most of our land is flat as a witches tit.
I thought about the light force and the watec as they are boght light. Anyway its gone so have to find something next. I have had the watec and monitor for ages, and one of markies illuminators as well. just been waiting for the right bits. I am no good at electrickery so it has to be just bolt some bits together and plug them in.
I wonder who does our security cameras at work? Might have to go speak to the facilities manager. See if they have some secondhand kit.

Well spotted that man. (no pun intended)

Declan,
I hope you win it - and cheap because it has 24V AC motors.
You'll need a 12V DC to 24V AC converter and they're hard to find, although you can get them from here

hmmm, I was wondering if it would be easier to replace the motors.

Most of these pan and tilt units use AC synchronous motors, either 24V or 230V. and they are heavily geared to reduce the speed of the output shafts to just a few RPM
It might be worth it if you can replace the 24V motors with 230V motors with the same output speeds because there's a huge choice of cheap 12V DC to 230V AV converters available.
12V DC gearmotors that would fit that pan and tilt are almost certainly not available, and if they are, they'll cost loads of money.
IMHO, you'd be better to wait for a 230V AC pan and tilt to come up on EBay.

Cheers

Haha. Nice one! What is the input and output on it?
