New lad

Post by rowey » 15 Mar 2013, 20:06

Hi folks. I'm a keeper from Leicestershire who's about to seek a first time night vision set up. Not got masses of cash to spend but a bit put by. I've lamped for more years than I care to remember but I want to go to the next level. The unit will go on a dedicated rifle. My fields are mostly small the biggest being 36 acres. I like the idea and cost of digital but what do you chaps recommend.

Cheers

Hi Rowdy & Welcome

It all depends on your budget

I use an N750 fitted with a doubler & an NM800IR Illuminator & think it's awesome - cost around £1600 ;)

Hi Rowey, welcome to the forum. What part of Leic's?

Were you thinking of making a DIY rig or buying a ready made one? There's a few about ready to hit the market in the next few months.

Welcome to the forum, Rowey.

Apart from the home-builds, there's a lot of lads on here using off the shelf nv, both tubed and digital, so you should be able to get plenty of advice.

Thanks for the replies. Been a bit busy so sorry for the delay. I have got myself N750 which to be honest is pretty impressive. However I have hit a snag. I was going to mount it on a steyr scout but the 'weaver' mount doesn't fit as its not true weaver.I have a tikka t3 I could mount it on instead but to be fair the steyr would be better. Has anyone come across this or know anyone who has fitted one to a scout rifle and the adapter if known

Cheers

PS. I'm not far from rothley for the chap who asked.
