Hi from Arizona, near Phoenix. I'm an amateur astronomer using low-light video cameras to observe asteroid occultations (eclipses) of stars. In this way the size, shape and orbit of the asteroids can be calculated directly from the amount of time the star disappears behind the rocky object.
Obviously there are lots more faint stars than bright ones, so being able to visualize a faint star opens up more opportunities to observe an occultation. Our amateur group is called IOTA (International Occultation Timing Assoc.). We've been using the RunCam Night Eagle 2 for many years until it was discontinued, now some have begun using the Night Eagle 3. Another popular camera is the Watec 910HX. As you can tell, we need video output to time the event.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. If anyone has recommendations for very sensitive, B&W, low-light video cameras similar to the above, I'd love to hear about them.
