New to night shooting

Post by Dave9118 » 12 Dec 2022, 04:29

Hi all,

Thanks for adding me to the forum.

I'm just getting into shooting at night. My colleague has a clip on thermal that doubles as a spotter but it's still a bit awkward.

I'm in the market for night IR and having done my reserch I'm almost convinced that what I need is a Pulsar C50 non-wifi with a Solaris SRX V2.

I don't like electronics with internal battery only which rules out the ATN and Hikmicro, and between the Iray and Pulsar the C50 gets the better reviews.

Firstly, I'd like to hear members thoughts on this, but also, whilst checking out alternatives I came across several people waxing lyrical about Drone Pro. I understand that these are technically no longer available, but I have found 2/3 for sale on the net new and in stock (x5 and x10).

They look a bit old tech to me. How do they compare to modern IR?

Thanks in advance

hi and welcome ,this might be better in the general nightvision section as you will get more replys, but also a little more information about what you will use the night vision scope for ie rats? rabbits or fox as different devices are better for some than others, pard have just brought out a nv scope very similar to the c50. the drone pro is still the top nv scope picture wise but is a big heavy lump, the new batch of nv scopes are lighter and fit in normal scope rings so can be a good choice. hope this helps.

Many thanks for the reply.

I'm using a .22 WMR Remington 597 with an 8x50 Scmitdt and Bender currently. I predomenantly shoot foxes, so 200m max. Although I would not rule out a scope which could be transferred to a heavier weapon.

Hope this helps
