An open and frank apology to Mark and general forum members

Post by some bloke » 31 Jan 2013, 10:38

I have confessed across the forums to being mildly dyslexic and I don't always say or write thing in the way I meant to say them, I often have to come back and edit my posts becuae I later realise they look wong. I am also a plain speaking Cornishman who doesn't always think of nicer ways to say something. You all know I wrote a post that was, to be frank, offensive to Markin the way it came out.

I tried to edit the post a few time after coming back to it and realising that I had left bits of reasoning, so it came out disjointed and too blunt. Some of the edits went ok but subsequent correction attemts din't, and I was getting flustered about it. I even PM'd George to ask if I had been blocked from posting, and tried several test posts, test edit's and finally test deletes. I still don't know how the editng issues occured, but suspect might be that I was trying to copy and paste, add colour to the text and enlarge a signature about 1/2" lenses not being needed on Watecs. I somehow suspect that copying something in signature rater than post might have been caused the issue? I really don't know enough about PC's to figure it.

I have developed a stammer in my speech and for a reason I can't find the words to explain, I leave bits out that I have to have to go back correct when writing. This seems to happen more when I'm trying to say something I think important.

I'll try and get my point out in a less direct way on that issue on the relevant thread, but I've made my apology here so any rollickins you guys have been too polite to give me won't derailthat thread. Let rip at me if you want to, the posts can olny be read by members.

right lad's
dave apologised for his comment (and more besides) on his own thread. so let's move on eh?

as for the 1/3 vs 1/2 thing....mark, dave. yer both as bad as each other. and need your bloody heads banging together
this is sposed to be an enjoyable hobby not keyboards at dawn (we've got the bbs for that lol)

if some-one asks for lens advice just give your opinion like everyone else does and let the guy asking the question decide for himself
the odd's are he'll probably try both anyway....i know i have and i'v still not made me mind up

For you penance, you must take us all out shooting and then to the pub after.
Naw sod that, just me :D

Well done that man. Dyslexia is a bugger to keep on top of. I don't have it but know plenty who do.

Lets all put the last few days behind us and get on with enjoying the forum and learning from each other.
We all have something to contribute. Some of us just do not know yet what it is that we have to contribute.

I am sorry to hear of your condition. My Father has dyslexia, It is a very frustrating condition.

I applaud your apology. It takes a bigger man in my opinion to openly apologise on a forum.

I also am a dab hand at the welding. When you say Forge are we talking blacksmith forge or are talking the ability to cast parts. I have an old set of salter stainless steel scales that I use to weigh Deer. The type with the big weight that sits on the end of the arm and you move smaller weight across till everything levels out. I broke a part that holds the moves along the scale that gives you the Beasts weight. I would pay to get it re cast if that was what you were meaning.

About 5 years ago I got into knife making. I bought all the gear including a knife grinding belt sander. Cost a lot of money. I bought in a lot of components that are needed for making knives. My intention was to sell them on Ebay. I got all set up and was getting to the position that I could turn out a nice knife. That week Ebay banned the sale of any knives that were not kitchen knives. I was absolutely gutted. if anyone is into knife making I have some parts that may be of interest.

To be honest with you. The belt sander has been used many times for non knife making related jobs. It is KMG clone made by a smart young fella. I would say he built it better than the KMG.

Right now leds and illumination are what keeps me awake at nights. Not just ir but also white light illumination projects that have my head constantly working over time. Good exercise for the brain. not so good for my sleep pattern.
