Half a dozen pairs of waterproofs and you still always end up with a soggy crotch. My best investment was £110 for a heated waist coat about 20 years ago. Still going strong. Wouldn't go away anywhere without it.
We above the snow line up the alps a number of years ago in June and it was flipping freezing up there and then back at normal levels sweating heat. The jacket was great.

I remember once having to ride it 150 miles in the pouring rain in winter, I stopped half way for a pee but found I couldn't stand up for cold let alone clear my zip, some would say the good old days.
That gave me a good laugh. Have been in similar situations my self.
ohhhhh yus i've seen that a couple of times in sevice satsions, one time this guy couldnt get his hand in his pocket, proper set on the bike, arms out annd all lol, being gents w egot the brew for him and took it over to his table, plonked it down and without thinking we parted to our table, 5 minutes later we looked round to see this still frozen bike rider trying his best to prop his hand to the cup, finally acheiving it he got half way to his lips and got stuck and gave up lol! that is bad.

Ah yes...... that strangely uncomfortable feeling as the water first seeps into your crotch...... whatever you're wearing!

I've still got a set of red & yellow Hondastyle leathers hanging up downstairs - only I cut off the Honda patches as I was a dyed in the wool Yamaha owner at the time! Think I 'm a bit long in the back as they always crushed my nuts!! (Anybody want them? In good nick too.)

Finally graduated to a set of Nankai Top Rider Honda perforated racing leathers in white with red and blue trim for summer wear when I bought the 30. Sex on wheels!! 90pers in first.... engine like a big rubber band, exhaust note to die for and the best bike I ever owned - did just what it said on the tin..... and then some more. Some previous owner fitted it with Maxton wheels including a 17" rear wheel in place of the original 18" - much better.

But..... it's been sat in the end of the kitchen (Lol! Where-else would you keep it?) for several years now - couldn't afford to run 2 cars and a bike when I took up shooting :( Ripe for restoration now though.

Wasn't invented when I woor a lad!

There was a brief period (80's?) when 'plastic' leather suits of some sort were available - don't think they sold many once everyone realised leather was still the best.

I think it was when folk realised that plastic melted and stuck to your skin as you made your way down the tarmac on your back

I finally gave up on leather a few years ago and went for a 2 piece textile. Just so versatile and warmer. Must be the low blood pressure. Mind you, still have the leather trousers for the 2 sunny days a year.
