I used to shoot from the sunroof when i have owned pajero's in the past they have got nice big electric ones , if they were a bit better on diesel i would probably still own one now , although i have got a 2010 2.4 petrol grand vitara now that is only doing 25mpg and most of my driving is motorway miles.

This is an old photo but the hatch part is basically the same:

The truck is an old petrol auto Disco I bought really cheap on eBay and we made the roof hatch in our workshop.

Major downside in the fuel consumption and the fact that the rear floor is now seriously rusty and passing its next MOT might be an issue.

That's a shame.... I though it might be the case though.

Many thanks for having a go though..... much appreciated.

Looks like I'll have to take good care of the little Grand Vit... following on from Chas's post re-his Terrano, the GV's bumper is wide enough to stand comfortably on and I can lean forward and reach a few degrees to the rear out to the left and about the same to the right if I swap hands. I can also get a bit lower if I stand in the wheel cut-out in the bumper and the vertical angle of the door means I can stand also inside the boot.

I've spent a few all-nighters standing on the back and it's more comfortable than sitting in the drivers seat for any length of time (and thermals don't work through glass  ) I have worked my way round the roof, standing on a wheel (320m fox  ) or even a seat and shooting across the roof but I've bought a couple of the hop-up work platforms which are spot on for me being a relative short-arse  Wickes for a usual size one on special but Toolstation do a bigger square one which is sheer luxury.

I bought rolls of the sticky back non-slip grip tape to make these non-slip... could see me doing myself a bit of damage in wet/muddy wellies. :lolno:

Cheers

A correct grip on the butt & cheekweld is imperative for accurate shooting.

Wos this all about then ? new one on me
Bloody parking permits between 11 & 12 and again in the afternoon between 2 & 3 six days a week down to a few arsehole nimbys in the big victorian and edwardian houses with no drives or off-road parking at the bottom of the road who don't show any charity to younger, less well-off office and shop workers who can't afford the town centre carparks... the Council haven't clicked that if they reduced the charges more people would park in them. Duh!

It's easier (more profitable) to extract taxes of £75 per car pa and £12.50 for a book of 10 day tickets from c300 houses... bumped up on a daily basis by parking tickets on cars not showing permits. A lot of people in the road have 2 cars... hubby and wife driving to work or one at home for the kids.... and kids old enough to drive their own cars so there could be 4 or 5 cars needing permits.

Loads of residents and visitors have been done... its a complete pita, we're close enough to Luton for friends and family to park (not a problem for all but the few) and get a lift to the airport for the duration. The affected streets are now virtually devoid of cars during the day... what a waste of a resource.

I absolutely refuse... the GVit is on the drive and the astra is now parked on the front grass which will eventually be hard-paved even if it does cost me more that a few years worth of permits. Feck that for a game of dominoes.

Don't get me started......... if I had permits I'd just go and park one or both cars down the bottom of the road and walk up as and when... certainly on the Astra which I don't use very often. (Hmmmmm... might be worth the crack just to piss someone off big-time  ).

I have a 95 swb pajero and i stand on the back bumper to shoot. The best vehicle i have seen for shooting through the sun roof is the lwb pajero/shogun. You can stand in the back and shoot out of the sun roof without removing any seats. It is possible to shoot 360 degs the downside is they like a bit of diesel.
