Many thanks for the great replies & links to other posts - much appreciated!
Clive, that is very useful information. I generally hunt foxes at night with the scope magnification set to 6x.
Hi Doc,
You might be able to get it to work on 6x by putting a cheap flip up lens cap on the front of the scope with a 30-40mm hole in it to stop down the lens and increase the depth of field.
Cheers

Hi Clive
I thought you mentioned that the Ward-D-700 would work on the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 up to 8x magnification. You are now suggesting decreasing the objective aperture size using a lens cap. Surely this will also reduce the amount of IR light reaching the sensor which could have detrimental effects on the image quality?
Thanks
Doc

Hi Doc,
Sorry I was getting myself confused. In the mean time I'd answered an e-mail to a chap with a fixed focus variable Swarovski and for some reason replied with that scope in mind and not the PST.
No 6x will be fine on your scope.
Cheers
Clive
