There is more humour on it's way can't be sure on how much of a it might be when it all pans out and all the details are known etc. Seems that the news on the grape vine from Ebay is that the Germans took offence to my Ebay.co.uk "FOR SALE" auction of the information about the attempted fraud of their refusal to honour and complete a transaction that should have been completed last April etc. Thanks Phil

That's interesting. We gave up selling on Ebay about a year ago because of the high fees, but also high levels of fraud from buyers pretending not to have received things, wrong things, damaged things, etc.

From our experience as a seller the nano second a complaint was made, the money was taken from our account by PayPal. It seems from your experience that there may be a great money making wheeze of taking the dough from the seller and just keeping it.

I suppose someone's got to fund all the subsidised luxury electric cars and space travel for the super rich. Not paying any corporation tax in the UK also is a big help for their electric car / space travel bank balance.

They must be hurting a little though, because we also started using a 'proper' credit card company alongside PayPal a good few months ago and PayPal phoned me cap in hand the other week because their income from us had plummeted. Rates re-negotiated and indeed had our rolling reserve completely removed which apparently is nigh on impossible (I've tried many times).

Great to hear that Clive as I have been stung a few times lately by PAYPAL and it's Fraudulent buyers ( i should say few fraud buyers as most are good ) , it's a shame they have a monopoly on the web but as of late they are starting to get a bad name.
People are moving away to other ways of banking and paypal has a shock coming !

Yep they market it to the buyer as a cool, hip, groovy, safe, community based love in, which is unfortunately paid for by them literally grinding the life out of small business.

On the tax front I'm sure legislation is looming to sort that out. If you make money from doing business in the UK, pay tax on it, don't pretend that somehow that business was conducted in Luxembourg or Ireland (both large net recipients of funds from the EU which the UK is one of the prime contributors. so they have no need for high taxes)

All very familiar.

We had our account with PayPal suspended many moons ago because we were selling a firearm part in breach of their terms and they wanted to keep our entire balance which was quite considerable for some ridiculous length of time, 3-6 months from memory!

This firearm part was a plastic air rifle moderator which was perfectly legal to sell at the time and indeed didn't breach the agreement.

Luckily I had a friend (now sadly passed away) who worked on counter fraud with UBS bank at the time and I explained the situation to him.

He told me to phone them and ask for a person in a particular position, gave me a little script to stick to which contained the points of where they were breaking several banking laws and the details of them and all should be well.

Sadly I can't remember the details of this particular 'magic bullet' as it was so long ago.

But the phone call took about 10 minutes and within the hour my account was re-instated with an apology and some fob off re. some internal confusion over US and UK agreements on their system.
