Hi all,
Just heard about this forum, so I thought I would register, and have a look to see what I can learn. I have been thinking about getting myself night vision for a while now, not for hunting, just a hand held scope just for getting out at night and looking for wildlife. Can I ask if there is any good reference points on here that would give a novice like me, some pointers on the best night vision to look at in each price range? Thanks in advance. Neil.

Welcome on here.
I'm afraid you question is a can of worms to most people.
You can go from Yukon ranger to DIY builds digital or gen1.
There are some handheld spotters available, look ar someblokes one on here.
Then there is gen 3 and thermal.

It is all down to money and skill.
If you want to know if something is there then thermal shows everything that night vision misses. It is all horse for courses.

Hi Neil, welcome to the best night vision forum this side of Nagasaki. 8-)

My signature has some hand held options to consider.

Here is one that can be sunroof or windscreen mounted with a 12v cigar lighter power supply - or hand held with 2 internal 18650 batteries - not supplied:
