How Tight is too Tight ? E700 in Nite-Tek /housing

Post by banjo48 » 03 Mar 2015, 06:04

Hi All
Just received my E700 camera and housing bundle from Sure in uk, great service from them and no complaints, but, just how tight a fit should the camera be in the housing ?
Watched a few video's and most seem to just pop in and out, with mine I have to really push it in and then to remove I have to push fairly hard on the lens to get it back out.
I'm worried I may damage the lens by doing this, I know once it's in place it will probably stay there but for now I'm setting the thing up and need to maybe remove it more than once to set the focus etc.
To make it "free'er" would I be ok just sanding a little off the camera case or better relieving the housing a little ?

Maybe a silly question but as it's my first build I don't want to stuff it before I start. Anyone else had this problem ?

One I'm using in a build has just the right sort of snugness I'd like so it doesnt shift if the rifle is knocked or fired.

Yes I have to push it out if I need to but they are solid enough to stand for it. If you make it looser it would be wise to pack some foam behind it.

Don't make it looser. You won't do the camera any harm pushing it out.

Thanks guys just the info I wanted, I was just wary of damaging the lens by pushing it out. Will leave well alone.

Don't push on the lens, better to use a tube that fits over the lens and presses against the front of the camera housing.

The camera comes out with a little pressure from your thumb, theres no way your going to damage anything with that pressure.
