KPCE700: Changing lenses...the minefield

Post by Similan9 » 25 Feb 2014, 16:51

Hi all

Some of you will be aware that we recently discovered that the E700 supplied with a 12mm lens is not compatible with a 16mm lens due to a shorter shaft (that's what she said last night actually!) Fortunately this doesn't seem to have been an issue for many of you. That being said we'd like to clear up the confusion once and for all.

I have asked 'the guys' downstairs to physically test the the cameras we have on the shelf so that we can be sure of what actually works with what. We don't currently have any 3.6mm cameras on the shelf but we do have the 12mm and 16mm; so tomorrow I'll confirm the following.

16mm camera supplied:
Compatible with 3.6mm lens(Y/N?) 6mm lens (Y/N?) 8mm lens(Y/N?) 12mm lens(Y/N?)
12mm camera supplied:
Compatible with 3.6mm lens(Y/N?) 6mm lens (Y/N?) 8mm lens(Y/N?) 16mm lens(N)

Will confirm when we have them on the shelf
3.6mm camera supplied:
Compatible with 6mm lens (Y/N?) 8mm lens(Y/N?) 12mm lens(Y/N?)16mm (Y/N)

If it helps you at all Mat - we won't have any interest in anything below 12mm IMO.

As above Mat, 12mm and 16mm only for me, if you can get your hands on some 16mm F/1.2 they work really well as they pick up more IR light and give you a better distance, oh and I need one

Yeah, 1.2 would let in more light but it's quite tricky to come by board lenses with an f-stop lower than 2 (from what we have seen)

A quick note that IR or day/night lens coatings are better for us.

Just a quick note to say that I have attached a PDF (camera & lens compatibility chart) to the KPC camera product page in the 'download' section...

http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700pub-16b ... internal-1

This clears up which lenses are compatible with the E700 cameras

Hi Matt,
What's the point of having the 12b camera when the 16b will fit all lenses? Surely it will only add confusion.

Yep, I see what you're saying but we only discovered this issue recently.
We have historical orders that we needed to address so that anyone who has already bought a 12mm version would know which lenses are compatible; this chart seemed like an easy way to do so.

We won't be buying any 12mm cameras in future but we still have some on the shelf.
We'll probably look to do an offer on them if they don't shift
