Hatsan AT44-10 Muzzle velocity

Post by gunnybedford » 11 Mar 2018, 17:18

Hi
Just purchased a 1.77 Hatsan AT44 -10 PCP, trying to run the maths through Chair gun to get my zero range etc. Does anyone know what the average muzzle velocity for this rifle is in 1.77 ? Hatsan quote max as 1070 fps but thats not going to be what a UK legal no FAC rifle pushes out I would think. I haven't got a chrono so cant measure it myself, hopefully somebody has ? tried to google but could not find anything for the 1.77

thanks

Neil

Maybe because it's a .177 and not 1.77

Cheers

Did it come new from a shop or secondhand ?
If in doubt you need to chrono it, anything around 800fps is liable to be very close to or over the UK limit for a .177.
Obviously the pellet weight combined with it's velocity will effect the ft/lbs, so if you run very close to the limit with one pellet, a different one may just put you over the top.
Trying to work it out from pellet trajectory ain't going to happen with any degree of accuracy, your zero range for a .177 would normally be around 36 yards.
The tool driving this vehicle is removed at night. Sometimes.

Yup one rifle could be different from another ... one brand of pellet give different reading from another etc...
If you don’t have a chrono your best bet is get out and shoot the rifle !
Different distances etc and learn your drop old fashioned way

its a new rifle from local RFD so its UK legal non FAC weapon, i was just trying to see if anyone had a ball park figure for muzzle velocity, I did try and google to find a review as they often quote velocity for various pellets, but could only find a UK one for a .22 and an american one where the rifle was clearly over the UK non fac limit.

not too worry i will as other said zero at 35 yards and figure out the rest, it just nice to run things through chair gun, i do it with my rimfires and like to maximise the PBR distance, which is always useful in the field.
