Osram, OSLON Black LEDs for Dummies

Post by Rocketvapor » 11 Jun 2016, 14:10

Probably common knowledge but here is the breakdown for Osram IR LEDs we seem to be using the most.
The 4715, 4716 850 nm and the 4725, 4726 940 nm
The 4715/4725 +/- 45 degree half power, and the 4716/4726 +/- 75 degree half power,
The Basic 1 amp chip, the 'A' Enhanced 1.5 amp 'No line', the 'S' Series connected,
and the 'AS' Enhanced 1.5 amp No Line, series connected versions.

850nm +/- 45 Degree half power
4715 1.0 amp, 1.7 volt Basic
4715S 1.0 amp, 3.2 volt Basic, series connected
4715A 1.5 amp, 1.7 volt Enhanced
4715AS 1.5 amp, 3.2 volt Enhanced series connected

850nm +/- 75 Degree half power
4716
4716S 1.0 amp, 3.2 volt Basic, series connected
4716A 1.5 amp, 1.7 volt Enhanced
4716AS 1.5 amp, 3.2 volt Enhanced series connected

940nm +/- 45 Degree half power
4725
4725A
4725S 1.0 amp, 3.2 volt Basic, series connected
4725AS

940nm +/- 75 Degree half power
4726
4726A
4726S 1.0 amp, 3.2 volt Basic, series connected
4726AS

Here's the voltage/current curves for the basic, the enhanced, the series connected, and the enhanced series connected.

I haven't seen the 940 nm AS series for sale anywhere....or even officially announced. Am I missing something?

Rocketvapour made a mistake in his original post.
The news is that there is no AS version of the oslon in 940nm and no announcements of any plans to produce such an LED.
I wouldn't bother waiting for one to appear, just get on and use the 4725S.

Cheers

Coincidentally, I just received confirmation from an Osram contact through work that the 940nm AS will be released by the end of this year. He also kindly sent through some samples to test... pic in below link.
