Stuck on first build

Post by satrapus » 04 Dec 2014, 20:46

Ok, so here's the gear I have so far:

Pulsar DSA adaptor
http://www.sure24.co.uk/pulsar-dsa-adaptor-1

E700 16mm
http://www.sure24.co.uk/kpc-e700pub-16b ... c-internal

FloPlast 40mm housing for E700
http://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-solv ... of-5/65881

5" 800x480 lcd
http://www.sure24.co.uk/sure-tft5-5-bnc ... -800-x-480

12V Battery pack
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Sallers-DC ... 3396aaed52

Questions (forgive my ignorance) :
1) If I put the E700 inside FloPlast 40mm housing will it fit snugly into the Pulsar DSA adaptor?

2) What is best and strongest way of attaching my 5" lcd to the top of the scope?
I was thinking :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-1-25-4mm-3 ... 43bb3bab22
This could fit on both my 25 and 30mm scopes.

3) What would I use on the bottom of the LCD to attach to the above scope mount?

4) Will my 12V battery power both the e700 and LCD?
Not too sure about all the wiring, any chance of a list or a thread that has wiring list for connecting all the bits n bobs?

Cheers

the DSA is covered here:

12 volt battery will run both the screen and the camera, you will need a splitter cable.

chances are that the 6800mah battery you have won't actually be what it says it is........probably well below 6800mah

but................... it should still give you a good few hours powering the camera and screen

Those batteries run around 40% of stated capacity and die easily. Elwirecraft have batteries made to their specs and they guarantee the capacity is as advertised. More expensive, but... I drove 300km to go shooting, only to have my battery fail completely after two shots.

The battery issue reminds me of nasty ultrafire 18650's that claim 4200mAh and have only about 1/4 of that, not to mention them dying after 30 charges.

Will invest in a better battery, thanks

As for the DSA... whilst I have a mamba lite on one of my rifles, I want to use FloPlast with a Pulsar DSA so that the nv is more generic and can be switched to my other scopes with little fuss.
FGYT uses a Cobra DSA but that's too dear for me.
Will the 40mm FloPlast holding the E700 fit into the Pulsar just as well?

Try this innovative way to mount a display. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=7126

No clue about the FloPlast, it's not available in Australia.
Re 18650 batteries, look for Panasonic 3600mah 18650B cells. I buy the protected variant from Banggood.com For a few buck more and a months less wait you can buy them from Torchy The Battery Boy in the UK.

as with anything hanging from your scope, strongest way isnt actualy the best way...dints the scope should the ocasion occur.. needs to pop off without damaging eather ideally.
