watec lens advise

Post by michael40 » 22 Dec 2012, 16:23

hi all, i need some advise regarding the lens for my watec.

i have found this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Black-1- ... 88843.html

but the spec says it has a Angle of View: 20.0°.

does that make much difference to the watec, or is there a better lens out there.

i have been looking for a 16mm lens, but haven't had any luck yet.

any help or advice would appreciated.

Hi mate

Are you looking to use it as an add on?
I have ordered 2 x 12mm that have now come and I'm just waiting on my 2x 16mm to turn up.

I tried my 12mm with my MTC Mamba Lite scope the other day and the picture was amazing but like Marky says the cross hairs are tiny but still useable

A 25mm fixed focal length lens is great if the day scope you will be using it on is a low mag one. A scope set at low mag will let more light through than if it were used at high mag.

Thus a 25mm fixed/primary lens paired with say a 3-9x40 scope would pass more light/better image quality at 3~4 x mag than say a 16mm lens paired to the same scope at 8~9 mag. Assuming the lenses were the same F-stop and other spec's.

I have a brand new 12mm here and you can have it mate , my one just screwed straight into my Watec and then I focused the back of my scope and the 12mm lens until I got a crisp crosshair. I then used the side focuse on the scope and BOOOM cracking picture.

I know what its like to wait so I'm more then happy to post it if you want it? Just checked I have only ordered 1 x 16mm :-(

Put this number in eBay for a 16mm 190535206391

I have only gone with the advice from Marky and Bruce and these guys know there stuff
