Deep Throat.

Post by chas » 24 Sep 2017, 17:15

Trying to get one that'll take at least 6 inches but the cost is ridiculous, not that keen on purchasing a cheaper option in case things buckle under pressure.
So if any one knows of a good strong deep throat "G-CLAMP" for a reasonable cost could you please tell me.

Can't beat carver clamps, and I've had some good buys off car boot sales.

Carvers are the dogs but i'v never seen one 6" deep?

Chas search for 'record' on ebay mate. The older ones will be far better than todays stuff

For new reasonably priced brands 'babco' arent too bad. I'v not broken one of mine yet and used them on some fairly heavy jobs, couple of them have lost the swivel foot though of course

Cheers Rod and Adam.
Been searching for all sorts and the prices are stupid if you want the good stuff, even second hand are fetching quite a sum.
I have a load of clamps but need one or two with a bit more throat on em to hold a router jig in place, which sounds quite simple until you not only want to hold the jig on to the wood but then clamp it all to a bench and I don't have a bench that shallow.
Making a new bench is going to be much cheaper I'm now thinking, the jig concerned is only 370mm long so need a small sticky out bench just that bit wider.
I'm a metal man by trade and this wood lark is starting to pee me off a bit

Thanks.

Chris.

Wood is annoying as feck at times mate. If i cut a piece of steel too short i can just weld a bit back on

I measured once cut twice and the damn things still too short!

Nipple clamps obviously go with a six inch deep throat. :o
I'm amazed that Rod gave a straight answer to the original question. Is that a sign of the apocalypse?

Anyone know if Record tools are still made in the UK? It appears that Irwin have bought them out and Irwin brand tools have shit quality now that they are made in China.
